To become a citizen, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Be 18 years old at the time of filing your application;
2. Have been a resident for the last 5 years (3 if you obtained residency through marriage);
3. Have been physically present in the U.S. for 30 months out of the last 5 years (18 months during the last 3 years for those who obtained residency through marriage);
4. Be able to read, write, and speak basic English;
5. Demonstrate good moral character;
6. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;
7. Express loyalty to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; be willing to take the Oath of Allegiance.
